The main runway at Reagan National Airport was closed Tuesday morning after an accident involving the landing of a vintage World War II aircraft.
Courtney Mickalonis, spokeswoman from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, said the accident occurred just after 10 a.m.
“The other two runways are open, but we are expecting delays,” she said.
Mickalonis said two people were on the plane, and no injuries were reported. She said crews were on the scene working to remove the aircraft.
Mickalonis had not seen the plane, but according to television coverage on WJLA, a yellow biplane is upside on a runway.
