Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., asked for a “worried nation” whether Twitter might consider restrict “one person’s” tweeting quota to the current limit of 140 characters should the company make its experiment of a 280-character limit a more widespread change.
“Can we limit one person’s account to 140 characters? Asking for a worried nation…,” Schiff said in a tweet. Though he didn’t say a name, the tweet seemed to be a thinly veiled jab directed at President Trump.

Trump has long had a penchant for speaking his mind in the form of tweets, whether it’s promoting his agenda or mocking his political rivals. Trump has also sent out barbs at world leaders, including about “Little Rocket Man” Kim Jong Un, which have raised concerns about the foreign policy implications of his sometimes inflammatory tweets.
Earlier in the day, the social media giant announced that it would be testing out a new character limit (double the current one) for a small group of users, and noted that an update on when more users might gain access to expanded tweets would be made in the future.
