North Korean leader Kim Jong Un told the country’s news agency KCNA that his government is preparing to send a “bigger ‘gift package'” to the United States after testing its new ballistic missile this week.
Kim oversaw the missile’s test, which occurred Monday, and called for the development of more powerful strategic weapons, KCNA said, as reported by Reuters.
“He expressed the conviction that it would make a greater leap forward in this spirit to send a bigger ‘gift package’ to the Yankees,” Kim said.
North Korea’s test of a short-range ballistic missile landed in the water off the country’s east coast. The latest test follows two successful tests of medium-to-long-range missiles by North Korea that have taken place over the last few weeks.
The country is attempting to develop an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of hitting the United States.
