After British voters voted to either leave or stay with the EU, they were also trying to figure out what exactly they just voted on.
Google’s Trends reported an increase of 250 percent in people searching “what happens if we leave the EU,” at around midnight British time — two hours after the referendum polls closed.

Also according to Google Trends, “What does it mean to leave the EU?” was the top question in the U.K. asked as the results were announced that voters decided to leave.
“What is the EU?” was the second top question, followed by “Which countries are in the EU?” in third. Googlers in the U.K. also wanted to know “What will happen now we’ve left the EU?” and “How many countries are in the EU?”

Britons weren’t the only ones with questions.
“Why did Britain leave the EU?” asked the globe as results of the referendum were announced.
