The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will accept public comments on a proposed liquefied natural gas terminal at the Sparrows Point peninsula in Baltimore County, the office announced this week.
The commission set a Feb. 14 deadline for comments, motions to intervene or protests on the plan, which can be viewed on its Web site.
The company is planning to ship ultra-cold liquefied natural gas on massive tankers through the Baltimore harbor, heat and vaporize the gas, then send it through an 88-mile pipeline into Harford County and southern Pennsylvania. The project has generated opposition from the Dundalk community as well as county and state officials.
AES officials estimate the project would generate $13 million in annual tax revenues. They asked the commission to issue a final ruling on the proposal by November.
