Vt. Irene victims feel for people hit by Sandy

WILMINGTON, Vt. (AP) — The owners of Dot’s, a southern Vermont restaurant nearly wiped out by flooding from Tropical Storm Irene, are preparing for Hurricane Sandy to hit.

As they rebuild the landmark restaurant in the ski town of Wilmington, they have put up plywood along the bottom floor of the structure to support it when the high winds hit.

Owner John Reagan says Sandy is going to be like Irene but “not for us.” He says wind will be more of a problem this time in Vermont than water.

He says he feels for the other people where the hurricane is hitting now.
