David Nevins, founder and chairman of Nevins & Associates, has quite a bit of faith in his two top executives, Kirstie Durr and Mitchell Schmale, both senior vice presidents at the Hunt Valley-based marketing and communications firm.
Instead of leading the day-to-day operations of the company he founded in 1984, he is working as executive vice president and chief marketing officer for the firm?s recently added client, Constellation Energy Group, leaving Schmale and Durr in charge.
“With the closeness of our relationships with our clients, David?s been offered some unique opportunities, first with Comcast Sports Network and now with Constellation,” said Durr, who has been with the company since 1992. “Overall, our agency philosophy when we take on a client is we make it clear up front that we want them to see us as part of their team, not a vendor.”
Schmale, an 11-year veteran of the firm, said the agency is growing and has added other new clients such as Morton?s The Steakhouse and St. Joseph?s Medical Center to its roster. Last year, the agency reported billings of $25 million. It employs 15 marketing professionals.
“I would say probably over the past couple of years, we?ve picked up two or three new employees based on the growth in business,” Schmale said. “We?re definitely moving forward and growing.”
