Walt Disney World is pushing back on a Vice story claiming disputes between Disney and President Trump has delayed his robot’s inclusion in the Hall of Presidents.
On Tuesday, Vice’s website Motherboard published an article claiming disagreements between Trump officials and Disney officials caused a delay in the debut of Trump’s animatronic robot in the exhibit.
The article stated Imagineers had Trump’s bust ready but were waiting on his recorded speech to the audience which concludes the show.
The speech, which has been recorded by the sitting president since 1993, is typically a written collaboration with Disney as well as apolitical and uplifting in nature. The article claimed that Trump officials were not collaborating on the speech, thus causing a delay in the robot’s debut.
In a statement provided to the Washington Examiner, Jacquee Wahler, vice president of communications for Walt Disney World, disputed the assertions in the article.
“The Vice report is inaccurate. As we have stated, President Trump will have a speaking role in the Hall of Presidents like every president since 1993,” she said. “We have been working closely with the White House and the president’s recording session has been scheduled. We have repeatedly stated that the attraction will re-open in late 2017.”
