Trump asks if FEC, FCC should investigate ‘SNL’ and late-night shows

“It’s truly incredible that shows like Saturday Night Live, not funny/no talent, can spend all of their time knocking the same person (me), over & over, without so much of a mention of ‘the other side.’ Like an advertisement without consequences. Same with Late Night Shows,” Trump said. “Should Federal Election Commission and/or FCC look into this? There must be Collusion with the Democrats and, of course, Russia! Such one sided media coverage, most of it Fake News. Hard to believe I won and am winning. Approval Rating 52%, 93% with Republicans. Sorry! #MAGA.”

It was an off-week for “SNL,” but NBC did air a rerun. The late-night comedy show has aired many a sketch making fun of Trump, his campaign, and his administration over the years. He is often portrayed by actor Alec Baldwin. Though they are less frequent, “SNL” also does air routines that crack jokes at Democrats’ expense, including lampooning Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., attempting a do-over after her viral confrontation clashing with children about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal.

Reacting to the president’s repeated jabs at “SNL” and his acting, Baldwin recently tweeted: “I wonder if a sitting President exhorting his followers that my role in a TV comedy qualifies me as an enemy of the people constitutes a threat to my safety and that of my family?”

Trump also swiped at the late-night show hosts last week.

“The three very weak and untalented late night ‘hosts’ are ‘fighting over table scraps. Carson did a great job, it wasn’t political. I don’t know what they’re going to do in 2024 when he’s no longer President? Will be wacky in the unemployment line,'” he tweeted, tagging “Fox and Friends.”

As for his criticism of the media, Trump often employs the “fake news” line against outlets that public negative reports about him, his inner circle, and his administration.
