A Prince William County middle school teacher is accused of inappropriately touching one of his students.
Police said David F. Blount, 62, of Stafford, is charged with attempted indecent liberties by a custodian. He allegedly inappropriately touched a 13-year-old female student at Woodbridge Middle School, where he teaches.
The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Blount was arrested Wednesday, Prince William County police said.
Blount has been a special-education instructor at the middle school since August 2006, county schools spokesman Ken Blackstone said. He has been placed on unpaid administrative leave.
“We take it very seriously,” Blackstone said of the allegations.
Blount’s biography on the middle school’s website says he is an Army veteran and previously taught in Osceola County in Florida and in Stafford County in Virginia.
Woodbridge Middle School is located 2201 York Drive in Woodbridge.
Blount is the second Prince William County teacher arrested in the past week. Beville Middle School teacher Lawrence Lucchetti was taken into custody on aggravated sexual battery charges for allegedly touching a student inappropriately last Friday.
