Hillary Clinton saw her national lead over Donald Trump expand Friday, according to a new poll, taking a 3-point lead over the Republican presidential nominee with just over a month until election day.
According to a new Fox News poll, Clinton made gains following Monday’s presidential debate, expanding her lead from a single point to 3 points, taking 43 percent to Trump’s 40 percent. Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson snags 8 percent, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein takes 4 percent.
In a head-to-head matchup, Clinton tops Trump by 5 points, leading with 49 percent to Trump’s 44 percent. Only two weeks ago, Clinton was losing to Trump by a single point (46-45 percent).
However, the debate seems to have helped turn the tide for the former secretary of state. Sixty-one percent believe Clinton won Monday’s debate, while only 21 percent believe Trump won. Twelve percent believe it was a draw.
Sixty-seven percent of respondents also believe that Clinton has the temperament to serve as commander in chief in the wake of the debate, which is an 8-point increase from Fox’s previous poll.
At the moment, more voters also see Clinton as more “honest and trustworthy” than the GOP nominee, an area with which she has had problems throughout her campaign. Thirty-five percent see Clinton as honest and trustworthy, compared to only 31 percent for Trump. Sixty-two percent, meanwhile, see Trump as dishonest, compared to 61 percent for Clinton.
The poll was taken from Sept. 27-29 and the margin of error is +/- 3 percent.
