A blood-stained flag from Ford’s Theater the night Abraham Lincoln was shot will go on display in Washington for a week to mark the anniversary of the assassination.
The former president’s cottage in upper Northwest Washington will display the flag starting Monday. Legend says it was used to cushion Lincoln’s head. A theater manager preserved the flag.
It was donated to the Pike County Historical Society in Pennsylvania. Lincoln was shot 146 years ago. He died on April 15.
