Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump continued to add to his win column Tuesday night with a victories in New Jersey, South Dakota, New Mexico, Montana and the biggest prize of all, California.
Trump has been dominant in the Northeast throughout the primaries and now has all 51 of the Garden State’s delegates to the Republican National Convention. Gov. Chris Christie, a former rival for the GOP nomination, was an early Trump endorser.
New Jersey was only the second-biggest delegate haul of the night. Trump took the top prize by winning California.
Tuesday’s results are a formality for Trump, who cleared the Republican field in May and secured a majority of delegates weeks ago. But continuing to run up the vote could be helpful to Trump, as he faces restive Republican elected officials as controversy swirls around his comments about the federal judge presiding over the Trump University case.
As the Republican primaries wound down, Trump vowed to take the fight to Hillary Clinton and the general and not let his party down.
