President Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski allegedly threatened to use his “political clout” against his neighbors in a land dispute, according to a report.
Glenn and Irene Schwartz countersued Lewandowski in August after he originally filed a $5 million lawsuit against them in July to gain access to a Windham, N.H., property, the Associated Press reported.
The Schwartzes counterclaim they once had a heated telephone conversation with Lewandowski in which he yelled he would “use his political connections and clout to shut down all building and work and make your life a nightmare with an expensive and extended lawsuit.”
The Associated Press could not immediately reach Lewandowski’s lawyer for comment.
Lewandowski has repeatedly been criticized for potentially leveraging his connections with the Trump administration to his personal advantage.
Earlier in August, Lewandowski was scrutinized for using a television appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” to call for the firing of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray. Cordray’s exit from the bureau was widely seen as a move that could benefit a client of his old consulting firm, Avenue Strategies. Lewandowski denied that was the case.
Lewandowski, who continues to advise Trump in an informal capacity, left Avenue Strategies in May after being subject to pressure from advocacy groups alleging other conflicts of interest.
