A protester disrupted Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s campaign event in a suburb of Atlanta on Saturday, appearing to call out the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate for her past claims of Native American ancestry.
As Warren addressed the crowd in Gwinnett County, a man shouted, “Why did you lie?”
“Hold on. We’ll get to lots of policy, I promise. OK?” Warren said, adding, “Be easy. Be easy.”

The senator attempted to move on with her speech as a man was escorted out of the Central Gwinnett High School gymnasium. People began to cheer and chant Warren’s name as she repeated, “We’re good.”
The Washington Free Beacon’s David Rutz said the man was holding up a “1/2020th” sign.

Amid a wave of backlash from political allies and enemies alike, Warren has repeatedly apologized for identifying as Native American in the past, including during her time as a professor at Harvard University and other colleges, and for taking a DNA test last year to show she had Native American roots.
The results of that test, released in October, showed “strong evidence” that Warren had a Native American ancestor dating back six or 10 generations, suggesting she is likely between 1/64 and 1/1024 Native American.
Speaking to WSB-TV at the event, Warren offered yet another apology for previously identifying as a Native American, saying, “I shouldn’t have done it.”
