Police said the married man wanted in the shooting of his girlfriend at a Parkville shopping center ? killing her and their unborn child ? surrendered to authorities Tuesday night.
David Lee Miller, 24, of Parkville, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Elizabeth Walters, 24, of Baltimore, who was seven months pregnant.
He also is charged with first-degree attempted murder in the shooting of Walters? 24-year-old companion. She is expected to survive.
Miller is not charged with the death of the unborn child.
Baltimore County police had obtained an arrest warrant for Miller, 24, after his girlfriend and a companion were gunned down at about 10:20 a.m. on Monday.
The two women were sitting in a gray Dodge Stratus in the parking lot of the Parkway Crossing Shopping Center on Cleanleigh Road when they were shot.
Their attacker fled, but before Walters? companion was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, she told police Miller was the gunman.
In reviewing surveillance videos from the shopping center, detectives saw a black Cadillac pull up next to the victims? car and a figure get out of the Cadillac and into the Stratus.
After about two minutes, the individual got out of the Stratus, and the Cadillac pulled off, police said. The video then shows a number of people running toward the Stratus.
In their investigation, detectives learned that Miller?s wife owns a 2000 black Cadillac.
Detectives also found several cell phone calls made between Miller and the murder victim about 45 minutes before the shooting.
The circumstances of Miller?s surrender were unclear Wednesday morning.
Walter?s death marked the 15th homicide recorded in Baltimore County this year. With Miller?s arrest, police have closed 10 of those cases.
