The magazine Parenting on Thursday named Arlington the top city on its “best cities for families” list.
Arlington’s strong schools, home values and low unemployment and crime rates factored into the rankings. Here are the top 10 cities Parenting named in the “families” category:

2. Austin, Texas
3. Madison, Wis.
4. Ann Arbor, Mich.
5. Lexington, Ky.
6. Portland, Ore.
7. Spokane, Wash.
8. Scottsdale, Ariz.
9. Omaha, Neb.
10. Raleigh, N.C.
Arlington also finished in Parenting’s top 10 in the “safety” and “local economy” categories.
