After her owner was hospitalized, a loyal pup in Turkey named Boncuk, meaning “bed,” waited outside the facility where the owner was being treated.
When Cemal Senturk was taken by ambulance to Medical Park Hospital in Trabzon on Jan. 14, Boncuk escaped from the apartment and followed him.
After Senturk’s family took Boncuk back home, she managed to escape again and would come back to the hospital for nearly a week.
“His dog, Boncuk, has followed him to the hospital gate and refused to leave for six days until her owner was discharged,” Murat Ercan, the hospital’s international patient center director, told CNN. “Even though the family [took] Boncuk back home, she managed to escape every day to wait at the hospital gate.”
“She comes every day around 9 a.m. and waits until nightfall. She doesn’t go in,” a security guard for the hospital told private news agency DHA. “When the door opens, she pokes her head inside.”
Senturk communicated with Boncuk through the window to try and reassure her, but when he finally got to go outside to greet Boncuk up close on Wednesday, she was ecstatic.
Senturk was discharged later that day, and the pair went home together.
