Joe Biden has not been tested for coronavirus, his presidential campaign said on Sunday, meaning that he did not follow some of the protocols in place for others around him during his Democratic convention address last week.
“He has not had the virus. We have put in place really strict protocols, as I think all of your journalists who attended our convention in Delaware this week saw. We’ve put in place incredibly strict protocols to ensure that everybody involved who is around Vice President Biden, who is around Senator Harris, is undergoing the appropriate testing,” Biden deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield said Sunday on ABC News.
“He has not been tested, however, we have put the strictest protocols in place,” she added.
Members of the press who traveled to Wilmington, Delaware, to cover Biden’s acceptance speech and other live-streamed parts of the Democratic convention last week were required to take coronavirus tests.
Last month, Biden said that he had not been tested for the virus. This Week host George Stephanopoulos said that Biden’s campaign on two occasions in the past week refused to answer whether he had been tested for the virus.
When a CBS reporter yelled to Biden asking about testing when he was onstage with his running mate, California Sen. Kamala Harris, after accepting the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination on Thursday, a Biden aide replied, “Are you kidding me?”
The campaign for President Trump, who is often tested for coronavirus, mocked the Biden camp for saying the candidate has not been infected with COVID-19 without actually testing him.
Joe Biden’s Deputy Campaign Manager Kate Bedingfield claims that Joe Biden has not had the coronavirus but admits that he has not been tested for the coronavirus.
