Three dead in Georgia plane crash: FAA

Three people are dead after a small plane they were in crashed in northern Georgia, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The plane was a single-engine Cessna and reportedly crashed in Gainesville, Georgia, at about 6:30 p.m. Friday evening near an area with mobile homes. A wing from the plane landed in the bedroom of a mobile home where people were eating dinner, although no one else was injured.

The victims were identified as Dan Delnoce, 44, of Gainesville; Courtney Flanders, 45, of Gainesville; and Matthew Delnoce, 39, of Ohio.

“The aircraft crashed shortly after departing from Gainesville on a planned flight to Daytona Beach,” the FAA said in a statement, noting that the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.

The plane allegedly crashed after taking off from the airport and was en route to Daytona, Florida. A nearby home was also evacuated because of fuel that fell in the area of the crash.
