Kristol in 2012!!!

The crazy kids at the Daily Kos are running a poll to see which potential vice-presidential nominee would combine with John McCain to form “the most easily beaten GOP ticket.” The choices are all politicians except for David Petraeus and our own in-house philosophical lodestar, Bill Kristol. The Kossacks consider a McCain/Lieberman ticket to be the most easily beaten, with the McCain/Huckabee ticket taking second place. Yet the McCain/Kristol pairing shows surprising “strength,” coming in a strong third and picking up nearly twice the votes as the fourth place finisher, McCain/Romney. Judging by these results, especially the fact that Joe Lieberman topped the list, it appears the respondents may have confused “the most easily beaten ticket” with “the ticket whose very existence would be most likely to send you into an impotent rage.” Then again, Daily Kos readers tend to be easily confused types. After all, most of them supported John Edwards for president. Some might consider the inclusion of Bill Kristol on this otherwise serious list of potential nominees as proof that the Kossacks are terminally silly people. But all I can say in response to the boss’ presence is, “Finally!” For months I have been trying to figure out the right way to toss Bill Kristol’s hat into the veepstake ring without it looking like the sycophancy of an over-eager employee. And yet the Daily Kos has done the deed for me. A McCain/Kristol ticket would also offer surefire consolation even if they lost to the obviously less deserving Democratic pair–the boss would officially become the GOP frontrunner for 2012. Thank you, Daily Kos! My dreams of a night in the Lincoln Bedroom that died with the Romney campaign have been revived.
