Ted Cruz trolls Michael Bennet’s presidential bid

Sen. Ted Cruz poked fun at the latest declared Democratic presidential candidate Thursday.

“Michael Bennet’s campaign is a Seinfeld campaign — about nothing — that typifies the Left’s empty rage in 2020. In a decade in the Senate, he’s done very little…but he did stomp his foot & yell at me on Senate floor (which he features in fundraising emails),” the Texas Republican said on Twitter.

In January, Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo., attacked Cruz for complaining that the Senate was delaying a bill to give backpay to Coast Guard members during a government shutdown.

“These crocodile tears that the senator from Texas is crying for first responders are too hard for me to take,” Bennet said. “They’re too hard for me to take, because when the senator from Texas shut this government down in 2013, my state was flooded. It was underwater.”

Bennet declared Thursday on “CBS This Morning” he is running for president. He joins a field of more than 20 Democratic candidates. Bennet had indicated that he would run for president if he beat prostate cancer.
