Amazon pays interns three times more than many warehouse and delivery workers: Report

A Tuesday data report suggests that Amazon, a tech giant with a market cap reportedly valued at almost $1.7 trillion, pays its interns nearly three times as much as its warehouse and delivery employees.

The median Amazon intern is paid $8,000 a month, according to corporate review website Glassdoor.

That equates to $46.15 per hour for a 40-hour work week, or $96,000 per year.

Workers at Amazon’s warehouses and on the company’s delivery teams are said to receive a minimum $15 per hour, and the corporation said starting wages for warehouse employees are reported to be $18 per hour, according to a report.

The new report detailing intern pay comes on the heels of a movement from the Amazon Labor Union seeking to raise the company’s minimum wage to $30.

That number would equate to 65% of the interns’ reported median pay.

Amazon’s program for interns ranks fifth in the highest-paying national internships in 2022.
