Ilhan Omar and Ben Carson feud over whether he is ‘sleepy’

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Ben Carson, the head of Housing and Urban Development, got into a Twitter tift over whether Carson is “sleepy.”

“Not sure he was fully awake, maybe he meant to reclaim his time back to sleep,” Omar said Tuesday on Twitter.

Omar retweeted a clip from CSPAN in which Carson appeared before the House Financial Services Committee. In the clip, Carson responded to Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., asking to reclaim his time after refusing to answer one of her questions.

Carson defended his energy levels Wednesday on Twitter.

“Since you brought it up… I know what it’s like to actually be sleepy, especially after 18-hour surgeries and operating on babies in the womb. I hope @IlhanMN knows I care about all people, even those she doesn’t recognize as having a right to life,” Carson responded.

During the 2016 presidential primary, President Trump accused Carson of being lower energy than Jeb Bush who he had termed “low-energy” Jeb.

“Ben Carson is a very low energy person, actually, I think Ben Carson is even lower energy than Jeb, if you want to know the truth. We need strong energy,” Trump said.

“My energy levels are perfectly fine,” Carson responsed at the time. “As I’ve said many times, there have been many times where I’ve operated 12, 15, 20 hours, and that requires a lot of energy. Doesn’t require a lot of jumping up and down and screaming, but it does require a lot of concentration.”
