Two citizens of the United States were arrested after they were caught sending U.S. aviation technology to Russia.

The two were arrested in Kansas City, Commerce Department official Matthew Axelrod announced, according to Reuters.
The suspects were identified as 59-year-old Cyril Gregory Buyanovsky of Lawrence, Kansas, and 55-year-old Douglas Robertson of Olathe, Kansas, according to Voice of America. The two shipped aviation equipment to Russia through their Kanrus Trading Company.
“Since 2020, the defendants conspired to evade U.S. export laws by concealing and misstating the true end users, value, and end destinations of their exports and by transshipping items through third-party countries,” the Department of Justice said in a statement.
“The defendants are charged with conspiracy, exporting controlled goods without a license, falsifying and failing to file electronic export information, and smuggling goods contrary to U.S. law,” it added.
