Conservatives across Twitter reacted with jokes and memes to liberals unfamiliar with the term “coyote” used by President Trump in the final debate to describe smugglers at the border.
During Thursday’s debate, Trump said that children are brought across the southern border “by coyotes and lots of bad people,” prompting several responses from verified Twitter users who appeared to believe the president was referring to the wild animal and not smugglers.
“Did @realDonaldTrump just say 545 kids they can’t find their parents for came over through “cartels and coyotes”?!” Dar’shun Kendruck, a Georgia Democratic State Representative and party leader, tweeted. How the hell does a coyote bring a whole human across the border?! Lord—–stop talking.”

“There are coyotes near the dog park we go to, and so far I’ve never seen them trying to illegally bring people into the country,” author Josh Jordan tweeted. “It’s really insulting that Trump would caracturize them that way.”

Just remember: a lot of the people yelling at you on Twitter think President Trump meant actual coyotes were smuggling illegals.
