Eric Holder knows what he wants. Whether he’ll go after it is still under speculation.
In a meeting with Cincinnati Democrats last night, the former U.S. attorney general confirmed he wants to be president, according to a CNN report: “Am I interested it?” he asked. “Yeah, I’m interested!”
In his response to the first question of the meeting, the Obama administration also reiterated pursuing a 2020 run was something he won’t decide until next year after discussing with his family, the report states.
Holder’s response supports his earlier comments about challenging President Trump. He told Stephen Colbert Monday night “I’m thinking about it” in an appearance on Colbert’s late night show, responding to a question regarding a tweet last week from White House reporter April Ryan saying he was “seriously considering throwing his hat into the ring for a 2020 presidential bid!”
Holder has also spurred conversation about a potential run by visiting early primary state New Hampshire in June, though he said in February he would likely decide by the end of the year on whether he will join what could shape up to be a crowded Democratic primary field.
