Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein fired following sexual harassment allegations

Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein was fired Sunday from his own company by the board of directors.

“In light of new information about misconduct by Harvey Weinstein that has emerged in the past few days, the directors of The Weinstein Company — Robert Weinstein, Lance Maerov, Richard Koenigsberg, and Tarak Ben Ammar — have determined, and have informed Harvey Weinstein, that his employment with The Weinstein Company is terminated, effective immediately,” the statement read.

The New York Times published a story Thursday detailing a litany of sexual harassment allegations during the last decades of Weinstein’s career.

Since then, donations from Weinstein to Democrats have been under scrutiny by Republicans who have seized upon his behavior as an indictment of Democratic politicians and Hollywood.

At least seven democratic senators, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., sent donations they received from Weinstein to various charities.

Weinstein’s attorney, Lisa Bloom, announced Saturday that she was resigning from representing him.
