Donald Trump Jr. responded to the news of Michael Avenatti’s conviction on all counts in his extortion trial with a Twitter message highlighting the friendly treatment he received from the media for being a critic of President Trump.
“Media + Michael Avenatti = <3 #ValentinesDay #Avenatti #basta,” the president’s son tweeted, along with a video of prominent media figures praising the former Stormy Daniels lawyer.

The video includes a clip of HBO’s Bill Maher referring to Avenatti as “Donald Trump’s worst nightmare” as well as a clip of The View co-host Joy Behar claiming that Avenatti is “saving the country.”
Avenatti was found guilty by a New York federal jury Friday of extortion, wire fraud, and transmission of interstate communications with intent to extort.
Avenatti had pleaded not guilty to the charges of trying to extort Nike of up to $25 million by threatening to reveal unflattering information about the company if it didn’t allow him to investigate the company himself.
The California lawyer faces a combined 42 years in prison and is also still awaiting the resolution of charges filed in New York relating to defrauding Stormy Daniels and charges in California for defrauding other clients.
Avenatti teased a presidential run in the summer of 2018 suggesting that he was the one candidate who was capable of defeating President Trump.
