Martin Sheen: Being president on ‘The West Wing’ taught me what Washington should be like

Actor Martin Sheen thinks he knows what Washington should be like because he played a president in a TV show that was filmed in California.

A fundraising email from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, titled “Disgusted,” is authored by Sheen in support of the DCCC’s 48-hour Mid-Year Deadline fundraiser.

In the email, Sheen derided President Trump and congressional Republicans for “kowtowing to their rich special interests,” while urging voters to contribute between $1 and $250.

“My time playing the president on The West Wing taught me what Washington should be like,” Sheen said in the email. “With Republicans in control, it’s far from what we, as Americans, deserve.”

“The West Wing,” which aired on NBC from 1995 to 2006, was filmed in Burbank, Calif. Some exterior shots were filmed in Washington, D.C., while others were taken in areas of Canada that resembled D.C.
