White House visitor who promoted COVID-19 vaccine wins Time’s entertainer of the year

Time magazine announced its entertainer of the year Thursday, and she’s spoken at the White House.

Pop star Olivia Rodrigo received the title after promoting the COVID-19 vaccine for the Biden administration. Rodrigo, known for songs such as “Drivers License” and “Good 4 You,” touted the win on her Instagram.

“I’ve gotten to do some crazy things this year but this one feels particularly surreal,” she said. “thank u time!!! entertainer of the year !!!!!! [sic]”

She visited the White House in July in a promotional campaign for the coronavirus vaccination aimed at a young demographic and spoke at the press secretary’s podium. She wore a pink, plaid Chanel skirt-suit, black socks, and sky-high white platform heels.

“Songwriting is the thing I take most seriously in my life,” Rodrigo told Time. “It’s the most personally gratifying too.”

She broke a record in January by becoming the youngest solo artist to debut at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 list.

“At the core of it, all my songs are about me and my experiences and my feelings,” she said.
