Ravens upgrade display system for 2006 season

The Baltimore Ravens today announced that more than 750 feet of new light-emitting diode displays will be added at M&T Bank Stadium in time for the 2006 National Football League season.

ANC Sports Enterprises, through a multiyear agreement, will provide and operate the SMARTVISION LED signs in addition to creating all the graphic content to be displayed on the new and existing signs.

The new displays will replace the current overhanging display and will combine with the existing LED signs, creating more than 1,100 linear feet of full-motion video effects. According to Jerry Cifarelli, ANC?s president and chief executive officer, the 3-foot-high ribbon has viewing angles of 170 degrees horizontally and 90 degrees vertically and will offer animated content to every seat in the stadium.

“It?s a dramatic change for the game experience ? [fans will] be totally blown away by it,” Cifarelli said.

ANC will also design video advertising, animations, team graphics and crowd prompts on the new and existing strips of LED ribbon. The company will operate the LED displays using its VisionSOFT operating system.

Dennis Mannion, senior vice president of business ventures for the Ravens, could not be reached by press time Monday, but said in a statement, “Over the past eight years, ANC Sports? signage has helped create one of the most exciting atmospheres in football at M&T bank Stadium.”

By using its Data Interface Solution, ANC also will distribute all NFL real-time data feeds to the fascia displays offering attending fans statistics such as rushing yards, quarterback ratings and other statistical summaries. The company?s VisionSOFT system also has the potential to produce added revenue for the Ravens by formulating data templates that coordinate statistical information in conjunction with sponsorships, creating advertising opportunities such as “fantasy stats sponsored by.”
