Multiple Fox News on-air personalities, along with the network’s president, have been advised to quarantine after being in close proximity to someone on a plane who later tested positive for COVID-19.
Jay Wallace, the president of Fox News Media, Special Report anchor Bret Baier, The Story anchor Martha MacCallum, and The Five co-hosts Dana Perino and Juan Williams were exposed during a private flight from Nashville to New York following Thursday’s presidential debate between President Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, according to the New York Times.
The network declined to comment to the Washington Examiner, “citing the need to keep private health information confidential.”
Everyone who flew on the plane has been told that they should get tested and quarantine.
The United States is experiencing a resurgence of coronavirus diagnoses throughout the country, with more than 84,000 new cases diagnosed last Saturday, the highest total of any given day since the pandemic began.
The on-air personalities on the plane are temporarily expected to produce their shows remotely, given the exposure, according to the report. Fox News had their anchors work remotely during the height of the pandemic. At least one on-air personality, Jedehiah Bila, has tested positive for COVID-19 this year.
Both Baier and MacCallum anchored the network’s coverage of both presidential debates as well as the one between Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Kamala Harris, Biden’s running mate. The duo is expected to anchor together for the network’s election night coverage next week.
On Monday, Wallace and Suzanne Scott, the CEO of Fox News, sent a memo to staffers acknowledging “a few positive COVID-19 cases,” and she noted that they will be “further reducing some of the workforce in our buildings and operating virtually wherever possible throughout the week.”
