The White House legal team has reportedly discussed some of the contents of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report with Justice Department officials before its Thursday release.
Justice Department officials have had numerous discussions with White House lawyers about the conclusions that Mueller came to during his investigation into President Trump and Russia, according to a report from the New York Times.
The conversations have reportedly happened in recent days and have helped Trump’s legal team as it prepares a counter-report to Mueller’s report. Last month Attorney General William Barr announced in a four-page letter to Congress that Trump did not conspire with Russia but did not make a determination on whether the president obstructed justice over the course of the 22-month investigation.
Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani has said that the president’s counter report would likely focus on potential obstruction claims that the report raises. Barr is scheduled to hold a press conference at 9:30 a.m. Thursday to discuss the report, although it is not yet known when the report will be released.
