MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace said President Trump would be flattered to have his Republican National Convention address compared to a speech given by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
The comment came as Wallace, who was a communications staffer in George W. Bush’s White House, discussed events taking place at this week’s GOP convention when Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson argued that the plan for the event is proof that the Republican Party has become slavishly loyal to Trump’s brand of politics.
“This is total cult-of-personality stuff. This is North Korea under Kim Jong Un. This is Romania under Ceausescu. I mean, this is absolutely at a point of absurdity. And I think that clearly, it’s what we are going to see all week. It’s just Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump,” Robinson said.
Wallace agreed. She claimed that Trump would be flattered to be compared to dictators.
“Only Donald Trump would not be insulted by what Gene just said about Kim Jong Un in North Korea. I mean, I think that is a comparison that he would be flattered by,” she said.
