The U.S. Marines came under fire on social media after the II Marine Expeditionary Force called Fox News’s Tucker Carlson a “boomer.”
“What it looks like in today’s armed forces @TuckerCarlson. Get right before you get left, boomer,” the II MEF Information Group posted on Twitter, above a photo of a female soldier carrying another soldier on her shoulders.

The group also responded to a Twitter user who told the account to focus on China, saying, “Come back when you’ve served and been pregnant.”

The comments were met with widespread condemnation from conservatives, with Turning Point USA’s Benny Johnson calling for those involved to “resign in disgrace or be discharged.”
Everyone involved in this humiliating spectacle needs to resign in disgrace or be discharged.
The taxpayers who fund our military will not stand for these official accounts being used to woke-scold private citizens.
How embarrassing https://t.co/U1hGoWtWMs

TUCKER CARLSON ‘DEMEANED THE ENTIRE US MILITARY’ BY SLAMMING FEMALE-FRIENDLY POLICIES, PENTAGON SAYS
Former Virginia congressman and Navy SEAL Scott Taylor said the behavior was “unacceptable and appalling” and called for the Marines involved to be held to account.
These political tweets to a civilian from official accounts, one from a senior enlisted in official uniform at official command are absolutely unacceptable & appalling. Marines need to be held accountable & there needs to be a @USMC wide message against this. @CMC_MarineCorps https://t.co/foY6uwQXCJ

Reporter Ryan Saavedra said it was an “absolute embarrassment” and blamed President Biden for turning the military into a “political weapon.”
This is an absolute embarrassment to our country. Democrat Joe Biden has turned the U.S. Military into a political weapon that he is using against his opponents in the free press. https://t.co/RyPCCzT5x1

Rep. Rick Crawford, an Arkansas Republican who serves on the House Intelligence Committee and served in the Army, said the military had changed and is no longer the same organization he and his family served in.
Unconscionable that active duty military members – in uniform and from official military social media platforms – have leveled personal political attacks on a media figure. This is no longer the same military my grandfather, my father, my uncles, my brothers and I served. https://t.co/gkl1X2cArk

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh cited a 2015 Marine Corps study that found all-male combat units were faster, more lethal, and quicker to evacuate casualties than co-ed units in his condemnation of the “boomer” tweet.
The Marine’s own study found that combat units are faster and more lethal if they don’t have any women. That was your study. Your conclusion. Now you’re condemning a civilian for agreeing with it. This is a disgrace. The people responsible for this tweet should be fired. https://t.co/XqT3fsbacC

A spokesman for the U.S. Marine Corps told the Washington Examiner that “the unit is currently reviewing their internal procedures for social media posts. While the post was intended to show support for women in the military, it was not executed according to the standards of decorum expected on the Marine Corps’ social media platforms.”
The tweet stems from a Tucker Carlson Tonight segment in which the conservative firebrand said the U.S. military was becoming “more feminine” while China’s armed forces were becoming more masculine. Carlson said Biden is focused on disseminating “identity politics” into the military in his Wednesday monologue.
“The rest of us depend on the U.S. military to protect our families and to protect the country itself. Joe Biden doesn’t see it that way. Finding the most effective military pilots, or infantry officers, or SEAL teams, is not his priority. It’s not even close to his priority. Identity politics is Joe Biden’s priority. It’s all that matters,” Carlson told his audience.
“For centuries, our military has been self-consciously nonpartisan. In a democracy, it has to be that way. No country can survive if its armed forces become the tool of a specific political party. We know that because it happens all the time, all over the world, and the consequences are always horrifying. It has never happened here. However, Lloyd Austin is openly political.”
The Defense Department responded to Carlson’s comments with a statement titled “Press Secretary Smites Fox Host That Dissed Diversity in U.S. Military.”

“We are better and more effective, not only when we represent the American people, all the American people, but also when we have the morals to include other perspectives and ideas,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said in response to the segment. “A major and specific contributor to that advantage are the women who serve, civilian and military alike.”

The senior enlisted leader of Space Command, Master Gunnery Sgt. Scott Stalker, also responded to Carlson, suggesting Carlson’s opinion was uninformed because the longtime television host has never served in the military.
