Under the tag “Hot Topic” Bluedot Daily has published a piece titled “Irony: Mike Pence Meltdown in a Screaming Fit on Tape, ‘Is adultery no longer a big deal in America!?’” The post was flagged by Facebook users. (Perhaps recalling the technology from comedian Jordan Peele’s fake Obama video.)
From 1992 to 1999 Mike Pence hosted his own radio show in Indiana with a Jerry Lee Lewis intro and the transparent title: “The Mike Pence Show.” During the May 23, 1997, show, Pence discussed the Kelly Flinn incident in which Flinn, a pilot for the Air Force, had an affair with the husband of one of her subordinates. Flinn was charged with adultery, lying under oath, and disobeying an order. She resigned from the Air Force and received a general discharge.
“I mean, is adultery no longer a big deal in Indiana and in America?” Pence asked listeners. “I’d just love to know your thoughts because I for one believe that the seventh commandment contained in the Ten Commandments is still a big deal.”
He continued:
The blog post from Bluedot Daily, however, sloppily misquotes Pence’s plea for comme il faut multiple times and inaccurately claims he was engaged in a “screaming fit.” (As is clickbait’s wont.)
