Pence motorcade officer injuries not life-threatening

A Colorado police officer in Vice President Mike Pence’s motorcade was injured in a crash Saturday and was reported afterwards to be in serious but stable condition. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash.

“Spoke to wife of injured Colorado Springs motorcycle officer. So relieved his injuries not life-threatening. Will keep him in our prayers,” the vice president tweeted Saturday.

The Colorado Springs Police Department reported earlier that the officer was “in serious but stable condition. He was supporting VP Pence motorcade. Keep him in your thoughts/prayers.” The officer was not identified by the department.

Pence was in Colorado to speak at an event hosted by Focus on the Family, a Christian conservative group located in Colorado Springs and to attend a fundraising event for Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo. He also met with members of the Air Force at Schriever Air Force Base.
