UPDATE: Two arrested in Md. trooper shooting

UPDATE: Authorities on Monday afternoon announced the arrests of two men on first-degree murder charges in the shooting death of Maryland State Trooper Wesley Brown outside an Applebee’s restaurant in Prince George’s County.

One of the suspects is the man who police said they had in custody over the weekend as a “person of interest” in the slaying. Brown, 24, was shot in the chest early Friday, minutes after he escorted a man out of the restaurant who refused to pay his bill.

Authorities say 27-year-old Cyril Williams of Seat Pleasant was the man taken out of the Applebee’s. The other man charged with killing Brown was 28-year-old Anthony Anderson Milton II, also of Seat Pleasant.

Authorities did not say which of the suspects was the triggerman, but said that the murder weapon has been recovered.

Prince George’s County police have taken two people into custody in relation to the shooting death of a Maryland State trooper outside a Forestville Applebee’s restaurant, according to reports.

Police have called a news conference for 2 p.m. Monday, at which point they will release more details in the investigation.

Trooper Wesley Brown was shot and killed early Friday morning. Brown was working off-duty at the restaurant at the time of the shooting. Authorities say they believe the shooter was a disgruntled customer kicked out by Brown after he refused to pay the bill. The suspected shooter is believed to have returned a half-hour after Brown kicked him out, shooting the three-year veteran in the chest.
