The D.C. Department of the Environment will distribute cash rebates to District residents who have purchased environmentally friendly Energy Star rated appliances. A clothes washer is worth a $150 rebate, a refrigerator $100 and a window air conditioner unit $50. Residents with receipts dated April 13, 2006, or later for such appliances — those marked with the Energy Star symbol — can claim their rebates in the lobby of the Reeves Center at 14th and U streets Northwest on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A valid D.C. driver’s license or identification card is required.
