Montgomery County police say a driver died after crashing into a power pole, sparking flames that engulfed the car.
Authorities said wires fell from the pole and sparked the fire Sunday evening in Barnesville. The driver was ejected from the car, police said. The driver, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the car was traveling northbound on the 23500 block of Mt. Ephraim Road when the driver lost control for unknown reasons and slid off the roadway and hit the pole. Police were called to the scene around 9:15 p.m.
Authorities are investigating the accident.
