The Baltimore Area Council, Boy Scouts of America will hold a special flag ceremony on Feb. 8 to announce that they are adopting the United States flag with 15 stars and 15 stripes, better known as “The Star-Spangled Banner,” as the official U.S. flag of the Baltimore Area Council.
The ceremony is being held on the 99th anniversary of the day that the Boy Scouts of America was founded in 1910. It is also being held in anticipation of the bicentennial celebration of the battle in 1814 which inspired Francis Scott Key to pen his famous poem which later became the National Anthem.
The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. at 701 Wyman Park Drive in Baltimore and is open to the public. For more information, visit www.baltimorebsa.org.
