Poll: Michelle Obama is most admired woman in the world

Michelle Obama has surpassed actress Angelina Jolie in an annual poll of the world’s most admired men and women.

The 55-year-old former first lady jumped one spot this year to number one in YouGov’s yearly survey. Jolie dropped two places to third, with Oprah Winfrey taking the number two slot in the poll. Queen Elizabeth II took fourth place followed by actress Emma Watson. Current first lady Melania Trump ranked 19 on the list.

All five of the most admired men held their slots from last year, with Microsoft CEO Bill Gates remaining number one followed by former President Barack Obama. Actor Jackie Chan took third place, Chinese leader Xi Jinping got fourth with Chinese businessman Jack Ma following in fifth. President Trump moved up two slots to rank 14 on the list, just ahead of Pope Francis.

The survey gathered panelists from 41 countries to compile nominations and then participants from different countries were asked about who they admired the most.

The poll also broke results down by country, with the U.S. results differing from that of the rest of the world. In the U.S., both Obamas remained the most admired people.

Among the men, Trump came in second place followed by actor Clint Eastwood, Gates, and actor Dwayne Johnson. Among the women, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg came in second, followed by Melania Trump in third. TV host Ellen DeGeneres and Queen Elizabeth II rounded out the top five in the U.S.
