Trump headed to Tennessee to raise money for Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn

President Trump is headed to Nashville at month’s end to raise money for Rep. Marsha Blackburn, the Republican running to succeed retiring Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn.

The May 29 evening fundraiser is requesting $2,700 to $44,300 per couple to attend, according to a copy of the invitation obtained by the Washington Examiner. High-dollar donors get to participate in a “private round table” with Trump; couples that contribute $10,800 get to take a photograph with the president.

Trump won Tennessee in 2016 by 26 percentage points, and his swing through the state could give Blackburn a boost as she moves to fend off an aggressive challenge from Democratic former Gov. Phil Bredesen. Polling has shown a competitive contest between the two despite the GOP’s electoral advantage in the state.

Blackburn is a favorite of the conservative grassroots, compared to Corker, who has sparred with the president and is retiring after two terms. The congresswoman needs to improve her support beyond the Republican base.
