Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse said that he believed fellow Democrats in the House of Representatives should launch an investigation into the FBI’s investigation of a sexual assault accusation against Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
“We must never forget how Kavanaugh lied his way onto the Court, on the back of a fake FBI investigation and a partisan male- and Republican-victimhood saga he created to drown out the witness against him. Might be good for the House to investigate that FBI ‘investigation,'” the Rhode Island Democrat said Tuesday on Twitter.

The FBI investigated Kavanaugh over allegations by Christine Blasey Ford that he sexually assaulted her during a high school party in the early 1980s and Deborah Ramirez’s allegations that Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a party.
“The Supplemental Background Investigation confirms what the Senate Judiciary Committee concluded after its investigation: there is no corroboration of the allegations made by Dr. Ford or Ms. Ramirez,” the FBI report said.
During a hearing in the nomination process, Whitehouse questioned Kavanaugh about his high school yearbook and afterwards accused him of lying.
“I don’t believe ‘boof’ is flatulence, I don’t believe a ‘devil’s triangle’ is a drinking game, and I don’t believe calling yourself a girl’s ‘alumnus’ is being her friend,” Whitehouse said about Kavanaugh’s explanation about disputed notes in his year book.
Kavanaugh was confirmed by the Senate to the Supreme Court in a 50-48 vote overwhelmingly along party lines.
