President Trump needled Democrats in a tweet Sunday morning about their selection of a new Democratic National Committee chair, saying the race was “totally rigged” against the candidate backed by leftists and many in the Democratic base, Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota.
“The race for DNC Chairman was, of course, totally ‘rigged.’ Bernie’s guy, like Bernie himself, never had a chance. Clinton demanded Perez!” Trump wrote.

Saturday, former Labor Secretary Tom Perez defeated Ellison for the chairmanship of the Democratic Party. Perez, while very liberal himself, is viewed as closer to the Washington establishment than Ellison, who was backed by 2016 insurgent Democratic primary presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
Trump presented no evidence that the DNC race was rigged.
