Muckety-mucks often close down D.C. streets when they come through town.
But when lots of muckety-mucks from across the globe arrive en masse, expect even more closures.
The IMF/World Bank of Governors will be meeting this week, so streets around the IMF/World Bank in Northwest will be closed and parking will be limited in the area from Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.
But the impact will extend further, given the unexpected closures that come with all the motorcades criss-crossing the city.
Here are the closures that D.C. police are already planning:
The following streets will be closed from about 7:30 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Sunday:
-
- 18th Street, NW – from G Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
- 19th Street, NW – from G Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
- 20th Street, NW – from G Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
- G Street – from 18th Street to 20th Street, NW
- H Street (southern side) – from 18th Street to 20th Street, NW
No parking will be allowed on the following streets from 3 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday:
-
- 18th Street, from G Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
- 19th Street, from G Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
- 20th Street, from G Street to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
- G Street, from 18th Street to 20th Street, NW
- H Street (southern side), from 18th Street to 20th Street, NW
- Pennsylvania Avenue, from 18th Street to 20th Street, NW
Additional parking spots will be closed starting at 7 p.m. Friday
-
- 600 block of 18th Street, NW
- 600 block of 19th Street, NW
- 600 block of 20th Street, NW
- 2000 block of H Street, NW
- 1700 block of G Street, NW
- 2000 block of G Street, NW
All this means area streets will be extra congested with pedestrians and confused drivers.
