Trump campaign raises $80 million in July

Donald Trump hauled in $80 million in July through his campaign’s own efforts and various fundraisers organized by the Republican National Committee.

The Republican presidential nominee brought in $64 million through his digital and direct mail operations with the RNC, the Trump campaign announced Tuesday. Trump raised an additional $16 million at 20 fundraisers that were hosted by the RNC’s Trump Victory Fund.

“We are extremely proud of our 69 percent growth in small dollar donations which shows the broad based support of over one million donors across America,” Trump’s finance chairman Steve Mnunchin said in a statement released by the campaign. “Our volunteers and contributors are clearly committed to electing Donald J. Trump as president in November.”

Trump’s campaign now has $37 million cash-on-hand heading into August, a month that could fundamentally change the state of the race as both candidates campaign in battleground states and prepare for the upcoming presidential debates. His joint fundraising committee with the RNC also has $37 million available.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton’s campaign has $58 million on hand after bringing in nearly $90 million in July through her own efforts and those of the Democratic National Committee. July marks the third consecutive month where the total contributions to Trump’s campaign are less than those made to his predecessor, former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, in 2012.
