Laura Ingraham blasted President Joe Biden for rising gas prices, calling him an “imploding gasbag.”
The Fox News host suggested Tuesday that high gas prices have been part of Biden’s strategy ahead of the midterm elections.
“First, Biden wants gas prices to go higher. He and the Left agree that Americans just use too much gasoline, so they’ve implemented a series of policies designed to drive gas prices higher,” Ingraham stated. “Second, Biden knew or should have known that picking a fight with Russia would lead to higher gas prices. He picked the fight anyway. Now, he refuses to seek peace.”

“Third, Biden knew or should have known that if gas prices went up, oil and gas producers would make more money. That’s just how the law of supply and demand works,” she continued. “Fourth, Biden had spent this summer shrinking the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in a desperate attempt to lower prices before the midterms, but those effects were always going to be temporary and would lead to even higher prices once markets realized that the federal government needed to replenish the reserve. So, there’s a direct and clear link of Biden’s reaction in higher gas prices.”
Economic and energy analyst Michael Lynch noted that Biden’s timing of shrinking and refilling the SPR is worth consideration.
“The Biden Administration’s plan to begin refilling the SPR when prices drop a target level implies that it is now being used more to manipulate prices then [sic] to provide energy security,” Lynch wrote in Forbes.
New polling also shows that high gas prices are one of the indicators driving voters to say the economy and inflation sit at the top of voters’ concerns ahead of the midterm elections.
Robert Bryce, Power Hungry podcast host and author of A Question of Power, told Ingraham that the Biden administration needs “energy realism.”
“The amount of diesel that we have in storage is at the lowest level since 2008. What my message here is we need energy realism. This country runs on gasoline, diesel fuel, and cheeseburgers. And that’s not going to change for decades to come. Unfortunately, this administration wants to beat up on the oil industry. The reality is nearly everything we buy at the grocery store and department store is delivered by diesel fuel trucks, and now, we are seeing diesel fuel prices accelerating. They’re going up very rapidly, particularly in the northeast. It’s going to be bad. It’s going to increase inflation. And expensive energy is the enemy of the poor. This is going to further add fuel to the inflation and the economy. And I say that not as a partisan. I’m not a Republican. I’m not a Democrat. I’m disgusted, but I just don’t think this administration is really taking a realistic look of what needs to happen to ensure energy security, which means abundant energy that’s affordable, and we don’t have it right now.”
John Kirby, Biden’s National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, was recently asked about ramping up diesel in the U.S. ahead of winter.
Kirby said he did not have the details to provide a specific answer.
“At large, the president has been working very, very hard to make sure that not only are we ready for fluctuations that could come,” Kirby said. “We are also doing what we can to help our European friends and partners.”
Ingraham and Bryce slammed Kirby’s response saying the focus should not be on exports.
