Fox News hosts push back on guest for ‘picking on’ teen climate activist

The hosts of Fox News’ Outnumbered criticized guest Buck Sexton for “picking on” teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg.

“Climate change is a religious belief for people who think they’re too smart for religion,” Sexton declared. “They’re asking for forgiveness. Do they really think there is a world where it makes a difference?”

Melissa Francis reiterated his point, adding, “They have Catholic guilt and going to confession but they just have forgotten about God so they worship the environment instead. I thought that for a long time that actually environmentalism in so many places has replaced religion.”

He later remarked, “The biggest weakness that this stuff always has is the spokespersons for this movement, the hypocrisy always comes out. Al Gore’s house uses 20 times the average person’s electricity. You look at all these things. They also have this young girl who is, what, 16? We gonna ask her about the Fed rate next?”

All three of the hosts condemned Sexton for his comments about Thunberg.

“No picking on children,” Francis responded.

Dagen McDowell added, “She’s a kid!”

Sexton then defended himself claiming that he wasn’t picking on her.

Jessica Tarlov commented, “No kid bashing, especially a kid who is more alert to the challenges that are facing our planet than a great number of people.”

Thunberg, who is Swedish, appeared in front of members of Congress in the House Ways and Means Committee, earlier this week. She is best known for founding an international movement called Fridays for Future, which advocates for students to skip school on Fridays to participate in climate change protests.

During her travel to the United States, Thunberg opted to take an emissions-free solar-powered boat instead of flying to New York ahead of her speech next week, which will be in front of the United Nations Climate Action Summit.
